Research in progress

Hannah Ann Rolfe (1630–16 November 1678) was the first wife of Richard Dole. Family-tree notes identify her as a daughter of Henry Rolfe and Honor Rolfe and describe her parents as original founders of Newbury. She and Richard Dole were the parents of a large family.

Hannah Ann Rolfe was born in 1630. Family-tree notes identify her parents as Henry Rolfe and Honor Rolfe, who are described there as original founders of Newbury.

Hannah married Richard Dole and was his first wife. The notes describe Richard as the original Dole immigrant and a founder of Newbury. Their reported children were John, William, Richard, Anna, Benjamin, Joseph, Henry, Hannah, Apphia, and Abner.

Hannah died on 16 November 1678. Her reported birth year is believed by the compiler of the family-tree notes to have been calculated from her age on her gravestone.

After Hannah's death, her widower Richard Dole married Hannah Brocklebank, the widow of Samuel Brocklebank; Hannah Brocklebank's maiden name is not given. The notes further state that two Brocklebank children married two Dole children.

Historical context

Family-tree notes place Hannah Rolfe and the Dole family among the early families of Newbury, describing Hannah's parents as founders and Richard Dole as an original immigrant and founder. These characterizations are retained as reported in the supplied notes and have not been independently documented here.
